[How To] Use Your 'Usage' Reports

These reports provide a valuable snapshot of how your organization has been leveraging your JD Supra service internally, over the last quarter.

Use this information to ensure that:

  • key stakeholders have admin access to your account (to access analytics and other resources);
  • authors and others are receiving analytics and editorial support emails; and
  • you have established active, automated connections between JD Supra and the major social networks

Notes and next steps

Usage by People at Your Firm

  • Authors: We report the total number of authors published with a byline on JD Supra throughout your partnership with us and the total number of authors who published new work during the past quarter. Use this data to understand how many of your authors were active over the past 90 days. 
  • As needed, click the link contained in this report to deactivate any author no longer at the firm.
  • Admins: Regularly scan your list of account admins. Has anyone left the organization? Do you have new team members (industry or practice area leads, BD or marketing managers, others) yet to be granted admin access? Click to remove or add admins as needed.
  • Who to include as Admin? Anyone in a marketing role who supports your content efforts; anyone in PR who can leverage the media opportunities earned by your work on JD Supra; and anyone in business development who should see the visibility and engagement your firm's work has earned with specific readers, companies, and industries.

Email Subscriptions

Use this report to ensure that your authors and account admins are receiving valuable analytics and other emails that support their work on JD Supra, including:

  • Reader Highlights: these emails report specific notable engagement with your firm's content as it happens. Authors receive Reader Highlight notifications covering just their work; admins receive Reader Highlights notifications covering all of the firm's work published on JD Supra. Both types of report enable your team to act upon opportunities quickly, as they occur.
  • Editorial Guidance/Writing Ideas: JD Supra editors release exclusive monthly guidance in 14 subject areas based on current reader interests across the site (among other data sources). Use these updates to guide your content production in response to proven reader interest.
  • Customized Daily Digests: this datapoint indicates the total number of people within your firm who receive JD Supra's daily, customizable digest of new content. This mix typically includes admins, marketers, authors and others at your firm. Consider promoting this valuable, free daily source of intelligence so that members within your firm are able to monitor latest thought leadership in the area of expertise, see how competitors are guiding readers on issues of the day, and as a source for new writing ideas.

Social Media Automation

Use this report to monitor (and/or establish) connections between your content on JD Supra and your organization's followers on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter.

  • On LinkedIn: LinkedIn sync enables your authors to connect what they know and who they know with a seamless integration between just their JD Supra content and their LinkedIn network. 
  • Use this report to monitor how many of your authors have an active LinkedIn sync and, as needed, click through to invite your authors to establish that automated connection.
  • More than just sharing, with each LinkedIn sync we are also able to include even more social engagement data in your analytics, showing who engaged with an author's work on LinkedIn thanks to this integration.
  • On Facebook: JD Supra's Facebook app enables you to automatically stream your firm’s new content to your Facebook page followers, as it is published on JD Supra, and to monitor reactions to your Facebook content from your JD Supra dashboard.
  • Use this report to ensure that you have an active connection between JD Supra and your organization's Facebook page.
  • On Twitter: we are able to establish a connection between your organization's JD Supra profile (or any individual author's profile) and a Twitter account. Contact Client Service for assistance with this connection.
